Welcome!
Welcome to Lee Knight's website, NYU School of the Arts graduate and professional singer/keyboardist working in the Long Island/tri-state area. If you'd like to know more about her other programs, see her page for her more formal programs. Her programs for children, called Books Alive, take storytime beyond the book—with singing, acting, dancing, and interactive play that gets children up and involved in their favorite children's stories.
About Books Alive
Lee brings Books Alive to schools and libraries in the Long Island/New York City area, putting on workshops for children from preschool ages up to fifth grade, each lasting about forty-five minutes. Each program involves retelling a storybook favorite with original music, activities, crafts, acting, singing, and more! The programs are designed to bring new life to the classic stories we grew up with and to get children moving and learning while completely entertaining them.
Kids, teachers, and parents all love the program—in fact, even the authors of the stories have given praise—talents like Debbie Dadey, Jez Alborough, Stephanie Calmenson, and Robin Pulver, who congratulates Lee "on getting art and music back into the school system."
This website introduces you to the programs which Lee offers and gives you information on how to book her—no pun intended— for your school. Use the storybook below to take a closer look at the programs, read Lee's responses to your most frequently asked questions, or find out more about Lee herself.
